Event Assistant Director
Position Overview
The Event Assistant Director supports the Communication & Administrative Director in planning, coordinating, and executing Journey Downtown Venue events, productions, and special programs across our entire property. This role serves as a crucial link between artistic vision and logistical implementation, ensuring seamless operations during performances and events.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the Communication & Administrative Director to understand vision and requirements for each production or event
Assist in maintaining event timelines, checklists, and production schedules
Assist with volunteer coordination for event support, including ushers, concessions, and setup/teardown crews
Help with venue preparation/teardown, including seating arrangements, signage, and accessibility considerations
Support day-of logistics and troubleshooting during performances and events
Document processes and collaborating on post-event reports with recommendations for future improvements
Help track event expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities
Qualifications
Previous experience in theater, event management, or related field preferred
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Problem-solving aptitude with ability to make quick decisions under pressure
Proficiency in event software and basic office applications
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as events dictate
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of technical theater aspects (lighting, sound, staging)
Experience working with volunteers
Understanding of accessibility requirements for public venues

Craft Bartender
Position Overview
We’re seeking a craft bartender to join Journey Downtown Venue. You’ll craft innovative cocktails for our upscale clientele that complements our vibrant atmosphere. Your presentation skills, spirits knowledge, and guest engagement that will create memorable experiences. What You'll Do
Create delicious, unique eye-catching drinks
Maintain an organized, clean bar area with properly prepped garnishes
Provide warm, attentive service while responsibly managing alcohol service
Process orders and payments efficiently
Collaborate with our team to ensure exceptional guest experiences
Assist with inventory management
Complete opening and closing duties to maintain our high standards
What You Bring
A creative approach to mixology and genuine love for connecting with people
Previous bartending experience or equivalent training
Commitment to responsible service (TIPS certification a plus)
Food safety knowledge (certification required within 30 days)
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and move throughout the venue

Line Cook
Journey Downtown Venue is seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our dynamic 115-person team at our premier event destination. Our venue features a bustling café serving breakfast and brunch, a unique library dining experience, and full-service catering operations. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-concept environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
Position Overview As a Line Cook, you'll work across our diverse food service operations, supporting our café's breakfast and brunch service, library dining program, and catering events. This role offers variety and growth opportunities within our established venue.
Key Responsibilities
Execute food preparation including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and completing mise en place
Prepare menu items according to recipes and specifications while collaborating effectively with kitchen team members
Set up and maintain organized, fully-stocked stations across café, library, and catering operations
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work stations, following proper food safety protocols
Manage inventory levels and assist with receiving and storage of supplies
Adapt to varying service styles from quick café service to plated catering events
Support special events and private functions as needed
Qualifications
Previous cooking experience or back-of-house restaurant experience preferred
Flexibility to work rotating schedules including mornings, evenings, and weekends
Strong anticipation skills and ability to work proactively in a team environment
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards
Food safety certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Reliable transportation and punctual attendance record
